Flash Fiction

Beside Myself

“I’m beside myself today,” I tell my reflection in the fountain directly below my balcony on the second floor. The water ripples and the bronze sheen of pennies pixelates my two faces. I tear open the bottom of the plastic bag holding all my dimes, nickels, and pennies and dump them in so I can watch all my fragile likenesses shatter and sink under the rubble. I walk away. I am one again.
